Veronica "Ronnie" Gowan

Verona – Veronica "Ronnie" Gowan, age 77, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010 at HospiceCare of Fitchburg. She was born on January 7, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of James and Jayne (Smith) Finnerty. On Sept. 24, 1955, Ronnie married Eugene Gowan in Brooklyn, NY. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother whose family meant everything to her. Her whole life and career was dedicated to fulfilling the needs of her family. Ronnie’s love and generosity were the most meaningful part of her life. In addition to her husband of 54 years, Gene, survivors include her sons, Jim (Beth), Gene (Kristin), Brian (Barbi), Edward (Wendy); ten grandchildren, Taylor, Aaron, Justina, Kevin, Reid, Abby, Brynn, Kristin, Erica, and Rene’; her sister Marie Roethlein and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Kenneth, and her siblings, Margie, Charles, John, Raymond, Agnes, Tereasa, Katherine and James. Memorial services will be held at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 11:30 am with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Visitation will be Friday, March 19, from 10:00am until the time of service at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Robert Cole, the 11th floor staff at Meriter Hospital, the UW Kidney Clinic and HospiceCare, Inc.
