Kaiser, Kristie E.
MADISON-Kristie E. Kaiser passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center, in Fitchburg, after battling cancer for more than a year.  She was born on Oct. 29, 1915, in Independence, to Eric and Helen Klove.  Kristie married Fred J. Kaiser on May 3, 1941, in Madison.  They were married for 59 years until his death in March 2001.  She made many lifelong friendships on Woodward Drive on Lake Mendota, at Weston’s Resort in Englewood, Fla., at Kelsey’s Resort, and later a home on the Chippewa Flowage, in Hayward.  Kristie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.  She was a loving mentor with steadfast determination.  Kristie was an avid flower gardener and had a magic touch with difficult plants.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crewel work, fishing, boating, watching and feeding birds, and was a supporter and member of Ducks Unlimited and Madison Audubon’s Goose Pond.  Kristie was also a long-time member of the Madison Gyro Club, Madison’s Elk Lodge 410 and Bethel Lutheran Church.  She is survived by her son, John (Marlen) Kaiser of Hayward;
granddaughter, Kim (Chris) Engle of Grand Rapids, Mich;
grandson, David (Jennifer) Kaiser of Ravenna, Ohio;
granddaughter, Gina (Pat) Wherley of Sun Prairie;
and six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Rachel and Ray Engle, Hayden Kaiser, and Emily and Brendan Wherley.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; father, Eric; mother, Helen; and four brothers, Ben, Bud, Richard and William.  Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 5, 2010, with the Rev. Sandra Schieble presiding.  Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.  A private burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg or American Cancer Society, in her name.  On-line memories and condolences can be shared with the family at www.gundersonfh.com. Kristie was a nine year resident at Meadowmere Assisted Living in Madison.  Many friendships abounded from residents and staff that enriched her life there.  A special thank you to their staff that provided extra special care for her and to the Emerald Team from HospiceCare for their loving care and guidance, and to the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center and their team of angels.
